The weather was lovely as it always is at this time of year in the lone star state. The swimming pool was just a bit nippy upon first plunge, but you warmed up quickly once fully submerged.
Saturday morning, before driving to San Antonio, I did a 3.5 hour ride around Lake Travis at 7:00 am with my neighbor, Jorge. It was a 70 degrees when we started the ride, and we were both complaining about how "cold" it was since we're so used to riding in triple digit temps by the end of summer. We got caught by the fast Saturday ride, the Austin Tri Cyclist group, but resisted the temptation to jump in and just rode our own mellow pace. Judging by the pace of the group as they passed us, the ride seemed to be the last hard workout for all the fast road racers in town before next weekend's season ending state championship road race.
We took some small bike paths down to the lake, said "hi" to a fisherman, and chewed the fat about things like buying a boat vs building a pool, the time-consuming addiction to Facebook.com, and Orbea's 2009 road bike line-up. Jorge just got the new 2009 Orbea Orca (their top end road frame, which looks like a piece of art) and my team is in the process of selecting new bikes for the 2009 season. It seems to be a decision between 2009 Orcas or Opals with the new Dura Ace 7900.
